THE MISSION of Merestead Conservancy is to serve as a charitable friends organization to conduct activities to support, preserve, maintain, restore and generally promote for the public good the historic Merestead estate located in the Town of Bedford, NY and owned by the County of Westchester. This includes the estate in its entirety, encompassing but not limited to its main house, designed by the important architectural firm of Delano and Aldrich in 1907.

Merestead is listed as a National Historic Landmark on the National Registry of Historic Places by the U.S. Department of the Interior in 1984. Its gardens, trails, farmhouse and barn complex and all affiliated buildings and grounds on the 130 acre complex are also within the scope of Merestead Conservancy's activities.
